Door Repair and Installation in Yukon, OK

Door repair in Yukon starts at $119 to adjust, rehang or put new hardware on one door. A storm door install is $279, labor only, with you supplying the door or us picking it up at cost plus 20%. Whole exterior door replacements and rotted frames are quoted in writing from photos.

Starting at $119

What Is Included

  • Fixing doors that stick, rub, sag or will not latch
  • Tightening or replacing hinges, and setting longer screws into the framing
  • Moving or replacing strike plates so the latch catches cleanly
  • Installing knobs, levers and deadbolts, including battery-powered smart locks
  • Weatherstripping and door sweeps on exterior doors
  • Storm door installs, plus window screen repair
  • Before and after photos in your job report

What Is Not

  • Smart locks or video doorbells that need new wiring. That is work for a licensed electrician.
  • Foundation or structural repair. A door that keeps going out of square can point to foundation movement, and that is not a handyman fix.
  • Replacing a whole prehung exterior door or a rotted frame on the flat rate. We quote those from photos.
  • The storm door, locks or hardware, unless you ask us to pick them up (cost plus 20%)

Why a door sticks, sags or will not latch

Most door trouble starts at the hinges. Screws work loose over time, the door drops a little on the latch side, and it starts rubbing the top corner or missing the strike. Short hinge screws only grab the jamb, so we set a longer screw through the jamb into the framing behind it. That often pulls the door back into line without touching a plane.

When the latch still misses, we move or adjust the strike plate. Sanding or planing comes last and only where needed, because a door that has been shaved too much leaves a gap you will feel in winter. Hinges, knobs, deadbolts and strikes that are worn out get replaced, and $119 covers adjusting, rehanging or new hardware on one door.

Storm doors, weatherstripping and screens

A storm door install is $279, labor only. You can buy the door yourself, or we pick it up at cost plus 20%. We fit the frame to your opening, shim and level it, set the closer and adjust it so the door shuts without slamming.

On exterior doors we also replace worn weatherstripping and door sweeps, which are the cheapest way to stop a draft. Torn or bent window screens can be rescreened or repaired on the same visit, billed at the hourly rate of $85.

When a door problem is not a door problem

Some doors are telling you about something else. If a door has been adjusted before and keeps going out of square, or you see diagonal cracks above the frame, that can point to foundation movement. That is structural, and it is not something a handyman should cover up. We will show you what we see and suggest you have it looked at.

Replacing a whole prehung exterior door, or a frame with rot at the bottom, is bigger work, so we quote it from photos instead of the flat rate. Smart locks that run on batteries are fine. Anything that needs new wiring goes to a licensed electrician.

The process

How A Door Repair Job Goes

  1. Show us the door

Text a photo of the whole door and a close one of where it rubs or where the latch misses. A short video of it closing helps too.

  2. Firm written price

You get the price in writing before we book. One door adjustment or hardware swap is usually the flat rate.

  3. We set it right

We find the cause first, whether that is a loose hinge, a shifted strike or a swollen edge, and fix that instead of just sanding.

  4. Report and free check

You get before and after photos, plus a free 5 minute roof and exterior check before we leave.

Questions

Door Repair Questions

How much does it cost to fix a sticking door in Yukon?

Adjusting, rehanging or putting new hardware on one door starts at $119, labor only. Most sticking doors come down to loose hinges or a shifted strike, and that fits the flat rate. If the door or frame needs more, you get that price in writing before we start.

Can you install a storm door I already bought?

Yes. A storm door install is $279, labor only. Check that the size on the box matches your door opening before we come. If you would rather we pick one up, tell us the opening size and style and we will buy it at cost plus 20%.

Why does my door stick in summer and not in winter?

Wood takes on moisture and swells in humid weather, then shrinks when the air dries out. If a door only rubs part of the year, we usually adjust the hinges and plane only what is needed. We seal any bare edge we cut so it takes on less moisture.

Can you put in a smart lock?

Battery-powered smart locks are fine. They mount like a regular deadbolt and we set them up with you. Locks or doorbells that need new wiring run to them are electrical work, and we will refer you to a licensed electrician.

Do you replace the weatherstripping around exterior doors?

Yes. Worn weatherstripping and a missing door sweep let in drafts, light and bugs. We pull the old strip, fit new stripping that suits your door, and add or replace the sweep at the bottom. Bring us the brand if you know it, or we measure on site.
